Tomas Smid





1992 Tomas was in top 3 in the rankings in my age group starting from under 12 all the way until, under 18 in the Czech Republic. He was a member of the National tennis team under 14,16 and 18 years of age where he got the chance to travel ETA tournaments under 14's and 16's all over
Europe as well as the ITF tournaments under 18's throughout the world.

1993 Nick Bolletieri offered to Tomas a stay at his tennis academy in Florida (USA) to train tennis and do the best for him to become a professional player. He was training in the best group-called
the Nick's group with players such as Tommy Haas, Jean-Rene Lisnard, Justin Gimelstob, Cecil Mammitt and others. Occasionally, he got the chance to practice with players like Kafelnikov, Rios,
Phillippoussis, Wheaton, Courier and his very good friend Petr Korda with whom he played regularly between the years in 1997-1998 where he won the Australian Open beatin Marcelo Rios in the final in
straight sets.

In this time at the NBTA (Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy) he got to know the coach Matthias Deffner. Matthias was coaching for Nick and went with Tomas to Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl, the two biggest junior tournaments in the world where he got one of his best results in Juniors. He was in the
QF in EDDIE HERR in singles and FINALS in doubles under 14. He also made the QF in ORANGE BOWL under 14 and one of his best results and upsets on the world Junior level was beating FERNANDO
GONZALEZ in Brasil (Banana Bowl-Group 1) to make the QF in singles of this tournament under 18. His best ranking in ITF under 18 was both in sigles and doubles in the top 100, which gave me a
chance to play the US OPEN juniors in 1995 and Australian Open in 1996.

1998 Tomas finished his high-school diploma in Bradenton Academy, Florida.

1998 Tomas got accepted a number 1 player in  college with  got a fullscholarship in the            UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI.
His 2nd and 3rd year thier finished in the top 10 and lost as a team in the "sweet sixteen" to Stanford who at the timewere represented by the Bryan brothers. His tennis coach for the team
was the former tennis professional Jay Berger.

2000 and 2001 Tomas was All American in Doubles with his partner Peter Hoffmann.

In 2002 Tomas graduated in Master degree of Advertising&Marketing.

2005 Tomas worked as  assistant coach at the National Tennis Center in Prague (Czech Republic).

He was traveling on ATP futures and challengers mainly in Europe. After he was a hitting partner with Lukas Dlouhy (doublesspecialist) for few months (3 months).

2013 Tomas worked in South Korea in the city of Gimcheon as a head coach of the National
Team in the JSM Academy. 

Tomas worked with players that are in the National Team of Korea  between the ages 14 through 17 in both genders and traveled with them on the ITF (circuit under the age of 18) and sometimes to futures and challengers as well. Three girls (Su Jeong Jang, Ji Hee Choi and Su Yeon Choi) are
already members of the Fed Cup and last year's Wimbledon Junior Boys Finalist 2013 whose name is Lee Duck Hee just recently joinedthe Korean Davis Cup Team at the age of only 18.

2015 - 2016 Tomas worked at the Tennis Acedemy Best of 5 in Münster, Germany with Dirk Leppen.

His responsibilities where Junior and Team players in all ages. His focus was on technik, tactik, footwork and match play.

Fall 2016 joined MTennis with his long time friend Matthias Deffner
